As a young boy spending time with my grandpa [Ted Dotson] was the highlight of my summer. Grandpa always had a fascination for animals, either to watch them in their natural splendor or to enjoy them cooking in grandma's [Myrtle Walker Dotson] frying pan.
My brother Scott [Lox] can tell you the time his pet soft shell turtle became turtle soup. Now this may seem a little harsh, but if any of you had witnessed the social skills of this particular turtle you would have to agree this was for everyone's best interests, except the turtle, of course.
Grandpa instilled in me a love for wildlife that I still carry with me today. Hopefully I can pass it on to my boys.
