John Watton and His Blacksmith Tools

More info:   John Davis Watton

This photograph of John Watton holding his blacksmith tools was published in the centennial edition of the New London Journal in 1975 (the centennial for the paper, not the town).

The caption in that edition read:

JOHN D. WATTON, Lowell blacksmith, about 1860. With his leather apron and the tools of his trade in hand, he posed for the photographer as a working man proud of his work. Copied from the original photograph, owned by C. B. Thornburg.
