Marguerite Walker in the Family Restaurant

Photo Date: April, 1953

Thanks to Doris Walker for this Photograph

Marguerite Walker in the Cafe

Marguerite and Cliff Walker bought this cafe in the business district on Main Street (Highway 34) in New London, Iowa from John McClure, who wrote about it in a history of the town of New London between 1919 and 1965 in a letter to his grandchildren. In the 1960s this building was torn down when Forrest Burkhart built a large new department store.

Doris Walker, who kindly photocopied this from her own collection, identifies the people thus:

Comments
"That's mom (Marguerite) behind the counter. The big man was the restaurant inspector, the one in front of mom is Earl Williamson. I don't know the two on the right."
