Shown above are the three sons of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel N. Walker, Rt. 2, Wapello, all of whom are serving in the U. S. army, and all of them overseas in the European war theater. They are left to right as follows: Pfc. John H. Walker, (listed missing in action), T-4 Sgt. William D. Walker and Cpl. Paul M. Walker.

Pfc. John H. Walker is listed missing in action in Germany since November 24, 1944, according to a message received from the war department Jan. 10. No further word concerning him has been received. He was inducted into service on March 17, 1944, at Camp Dodge, Des Moines, Iowa and was sent from there to Camp Roberts, Calif., where he received basic training in an infantry unit. In August he was transferred to Camp Geo. G. Meade, Maryland, and on Sept. 10 was sent across to England. Soon thereafter he was sent to the front lines and had been in France and Belgium. At the siege of Aachen, in Germany, he was in one of the two battalions whose job it was to encircle Aachen and they held this line until the garrison surrendered Oct. 22. The last word received from him was dated Nov. 14, 1944.

T-4 Sgt. William D. Walker was inducted into the service in November, 1942, and sent to Camp Beal Calif. for training in the armored branch of the service. He was detailed in charge of part of the guns and was advanced to the rank of T-seargeant with the 13th Division in December, 1943. The division moved to Camp Bowie, Brownwood, Texas, and in May 1944 he was sent to the armored school at Ft. Knox, Ky., where he received his certificate of proficiency on June 3. After a visit at home he returned to Brownwood where he remained until he was sent overseas about Jan. 18, 1945. No word of his arrival overseas has been received at this writing. His address at present is:

Cpl. Paul M. Walker was inducted into service at Salt Lake City, Utah October 28, 1943, and was sent to Fort Douglas, Utah, for training. Later he was transferred to Sheppard Field in Texas and thereafter to airfields at Wilmington, N. C. and Richmond, Va. In March, 1944, he was sent to a port of embarkation and thence in England. Since his arrival overseas he has been in France and other nations on the western front. As he is serving in detached service with the air force he is on the move most of the time with a group of men from his branch of service. His address at last report was:

Cpl. Paul M. Walker, 89835870 APO 134, care PM, New York, NY
