My mother, Leota Walker (Krekel/Brumm), worked as a domestic cleaning several houses around New London during the 1940s. One was George Elliott, the town's undertaker, but another was the Thomes family, whom I believe lived between New London and Mt. Pleasant. Additionally she was seeing their son, Bert, and apparently it was believed they would be married but they never were. Bert has problems with dynamite once: |
