More info: R. H. Peterson |
The picture on the left was published in the 1875-1975 Centennial edition of the New London Journal. The caption on the photograph reads: THE R. H. PETERSON store in 1886 or 1887, on the north side of Main Street, where the brick building now [1974] houses Englehard's Beauty and Barber Shop, Helen's Variety Store, and the Cycle Shop To the right of the picture is Snyder's Furniture Store, where the jewelry store is now. At the left, behind a picket fence, was the Peterson residence attached to the store. The Board sidewalk raised on stone pillars kept pedestrians out of the mud. The man at the left on the porch is Ed Copelin, father of Maude (Mrs. Sumner) Blanck, who loaned us this picture. |
