This photograph (along with the captured caption) was published in the 1975 Centennial edition of the New London Journal. Robert Glenn Peterson is the fourth boy from the left in the back row of this group shot of fifth and sixth grade students from Lincoln School, New London, Iowa. The photograph was taken in 1910. Glenn, as he was known, was the son of Florence [Lee] and J. E. Peterson. He grew up in New London, Iowa, and moved with his mother and family to Los Angeles in 1917 after the death of his father. Lincoln School was situated in the town park of New London, the only building that has ever been in that square, as it was originally donated to the town by Abraham Dover, New London's founder, with the stipulation no building could be put there (his widow decreed a school was not against his wishes.
