This view of Main Street in New London was scanned from a 1961 New London High School Tiger yearbook. Two more photographs of the town follow this picture. The old water tower was replaced in the 1970s. The thriving business district in the 1950s and 1960s died as mall mentality struck the country. The Main Street in town was US Highway 34; recently a four lane bypass that was built allows drivers to entirely miss the town. |
