The Mitten Factory was founded in an upstairs room in the J. E. Peterson General Store in New London in 1907. Originally there were four people, but it expanded rapidly and at its peak it was located in two buildings on the south side of Main Street and it employed 47 people. This factory existed in one form or another until 1973. Eventually this building it was in became the White House Creamery and presently it is the New London Dover Museum. |
