James Burton (Burt) Moyers was Hattie Mae Moyers' younger brother, the son of George Washington Earl Moyers and his wife, Rebecca E. [Pence] Moyers. James was born February 4, 1883 in Kansas during a short time the Moyers family lived there in a town called Peabody. It must not have been to their liking, or else the lure of Iowa just brought them back, as within several years they were again living in Southeast Iowa. James had a twin sister, Gertie, who died in 1885. She is buried in Loper Cemetery, Franklin Township, Des Moines County, Iowa. Burt's wife, Nellie, was born Nellie Laura Owens. She was a native of Louisa County, Iowa. Reil [Hannah] Walker, the wife of Samuel Nathaniel Walker, was not related, but Burt's "former brother-in-law's wife." |
