Samuel Nelson Moyers was born near Carrollton in Greene County Illinois in 1827. Lucinda Hopkins Deen [or Dean] was born in Lewis County, Virginia (now Upshur County, West Virginia) in 1823. They were married August 6, 1846 in Tamatown, Des Moines County, Iowa, where both the Moyers and Deen families were farming. Their marriage lasted until Lucy's death in 1909, spanning (nearly) 63 years. A photograph from their 50th wedding anniversary in 1896 is in the tour section of this site in the 1800s area. This is the front side of their commemorative brochure on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary; the ensuing three pages show the remainder of the brochure. |
