It was a hot and humid summer day in 1965 or 1966, the kind that just thinking about moving around would make the weak break out in a heavy sweat. These extended members of the Walker family all got together to eat. There was no indoor air conditioning, so people wouldn't congregate in the house, which, when full of people under such circumstances would become an unbearable hades very quickly. Lawn chairs were required at these events, but no one had to bring their own as there were always enough around the house. This is the last family get together that I have any pictures from before my mother, Leota [Walker] Brumm, died in 1967. There was no particular reason for it; it just happened. I was considering that Elsie's friend on the lawn that afternoon might have been Iva Dotson (a child of Lucy Moyers and George Dotson), but I don't believe this particular one was Iva. |
