Wanda Jean Hale, Cheerleader

This photograph is in the 1958 New London, Iowa Tiger yearbook, which was one of several yearbooks from the 1950s and 1960s I was given when I graduated from New London in 1970 by the school yearbook staff advisor. (I was on the yearbook staff). Although I've looked through the yearbooks a lot, I never realized there were relatives' pictures in them during those specific yearbooks I had.

Wanda Jean Hale, 3rd from the left, is a relative, however. Wanda is the daughter of William ("Woodrow") Hale and Freeda Lorraine Iles, the granddaughter of Ira Tate Hale and Florence Vashti Hand, the great granddaughter of Benjamin Franklin Hand and Mary Catherine Brewer, and Mary Brewer was the daughter of Vashti Walker Brewer and the granddaughter of Francis Samuel Walker! That is enough to make one's head spin. Wanda is therefore my 3rd cousin once removed from myself and others descendants of Samuel Nathaniel Walker who are in my own generation. Today Wanda was married to Jack Wormington and they had two children.
