Kitturah Fox

Approximate Photo Date: 1860-1870

A Picture from Marge in Morning Sun [Thanks to Marjorie Kimble for the photo on this page]

Kitturah Fox, Charles Pearsey Walker's mother-in-law, was born in Ohio June 12, 1812. It has been hard to determine much about her early life or where, exactly, in Ohio she was born. At age 17 she married Nathaniel Fox, and they had at least ten (known) children. By 1840 they had moved to Henry County, Iowa. Kitturah wrote several letters which survived can can be read on this web site beginning here. These were sent from New London, Iowa, to her daughter Elizabeth [Fox] Sampson, who was living in Nebraska.

Judging from this picture and the following photograph, Kitturah may habe been native American or else had some native American blood.
