Thelma Umphrey is the toddler, and her sister, Margretta, is the baby in this photograph. Geoffrey Paul Umphrey, their father, was a Louisa County native who was born December 5, 1897. He married Maude Mae Walker, daughter of Sam and Hattie Walker, October 16, 1916 in Louisa County. In addition to Thelma and Margretta, they had two sons, Paul and Tommy, before Geoffrey unexpectedly died after surgery March 9, 1931.
