The entire roll of color film that was taken that summer day on South Pine Street in New London, Iowa, was left in the camera for about 4 years before it was developed. This tends to date the summer as 1966 (or even on the outside chance as 1967) as my mother, Leota Brumm, died in November, 1967 and things like taking the film out of the camera to get it developed and so forth just got put on hold. I either graduated or very nearly was ready to graduate from high school when this roll of film became pictures. By the time I realized there was a roll of film in our old camera and developed it, some of the shots were in really terrible shape. My computer (i.e. Photoshop) has helped somewhat in cleaning up these photographs, but bizarre colors are still in evidence on some of these. |
