More info:   Roy G. Fortner

This picture, I believe, was taken in the large two story house Roy and Maude Fortner inherited in Knoxville, Iowa, when Roy's sister, Lillian Vance, died. Several years after they moved into this house and sorted through all of Lilly's possessions (a daunting task), they built a smaller one story house on the lot directly north of the larger house, and sold the larger house.

When I was a near teenager I really enjoyed going to visit Maude and Roy in Knoxville; it was about 100 miles from our home in New London, and the best part was that about two or three blocks north of their home was a record store in the downstairs of a buildin near the Knoxville main business district/town square.
