This photograph was kindly provided by Julie Ann Delio, who is the baby in the picture. There are five generations of her family shown here, beginning with Eva E. Dotson, who was born in July 17, 1861 and died November 1, 1952. Eva was the wife of George Reymer Deihl; Eva's daughter, the eldest of five children in the Deihl family, was Blanche Anna Deihl, who lived from November 27, 1880 until March 27, 1970. Blanche married Steven Franz Pantel. Blanche and Steven's daughter was: Bertha Grace Pantel (October 28, 1906 - January 26, 1991). Bertha married Albert Otis Hicklin, and their son, Raymond Edwin Hicklin, is shown holding his daughter, Julie Ann. Eva Dotson, the matriarch of the photograph, was the daughter (and youngest child of fourteen) of Bazzel S. and Mary [Davidson] Dotson of Pennsylvania, who moved along with other family members to Iowa by 1844. Eva Dotson was a grand aunt to Ted and Verona Dotson. The text below the photograph read: Pictured above are members of the Hicklin family who represent five generations. Julie Ann Hicklin, two months old, is in the arms of her father, Raymond E. Hicklin. From left to right, the other members of the direct descendants are Mrs. A. O. Hicklin, Mrs. Blanche Pantel and Mrs. Eva Deihl. Raymond Hicklin has entered Iowa State college at Ames this fall and his family will reside in that city during the school year.
