Myrtle was the mother to many children, even though she had only two of her own. She took care of her younger siblings after her mother died in 1918, she helped with Beverly Broeker after her sister Ruth died in 1939, and she used to babysit me (Dennis Brumm) a lot when I was a little baby and my mother still worked. My own name for her when I was little was "Auntie," I don't believe she had a nickname for me (brat, perhaps?) but her husband Ted knew me as "Toad." |
