Walker Children in a Picnic Pose

Although no evidence of a picnic can be seen in the picture, it "feels" like a picnic.

It also feels humid. And too hot to be wearing all those clothes.

I don't know if the Walker family owned a camera at this time; Myrtle Walker would seem to be either in this photograph or else taking the picture. It's a higher quality print than the snapshots of children Leota and Ruth in the next few years, so it almost seems to be a "studio" print.

It could be that this photograph, along with the next picture in the Tour, provided a family portrait, as Myrtle is in the following shot with her Grandmother and Grandfather Moyers, mother, and the baby Leota Walker.

In that case, however, one might ask the inevitable question, "Where's Sam?"
