(A Louisa County paper, after February 21, 1992)ELSIE E. WALKERElsie E. Walker, 97, of Marshalltown, died Monday, Feb. 17, 1992 at Marshalltown Manor. Born Aug. 18, 1894, in Wapello, she was the daughter of Samuel and Hattie Moyers Walker. She received her education in the Wapello area. In 1914, she entered the ministry, serving in Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Missouri. She lived in Burlington and Morning Sun for many years, moving to Marshalltown in 1981. Survivors include two sisters, Marjorie Kimball [sic: Kimble] of Morning Sun, and Viola Van Houten of Corpus Christi, Texas; and one brother, Robert Walker of Victoria, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, George, Clifford, Ross, Sam, Paul and William; and four sisters, Myrtle, Leota, Ruth and Maude. The funeral for Elsie Walker was 1 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Dean Swenson and Vernon Spinner officiating. Organist was Ruth Topinka. Pallbearers were Jeff Evans, Wayne House, Dean Klenk, Eugene Shepard, Richard Vybiral and John Wilson. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery at Malcom. |
