Doris Cartwright

Doris Cartwright, 87, of Willow Gardens Care Center, died there Thursday, Sept. 7, 1995, after a brief illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Kale Funeral Home, Osceola, where friends may call after noon Sunday. The Rev. Marty Burgus will officiate. Burial: High Point Cemetery, Decatur County. Arrangements are with Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Mary Lynn Rathje and husband Bob of Marion and Linda Thompson and husband Chris of Cedar Rapids; four great-grandchildren, Jon and Amy Rathje of Marion and Laura and Emily Thompson of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Lela Reynolds of Baxter; and a son-in-law, Carl Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and a daughter, Beverly Jo Anderson.

Born Sept. 6, 1908, in Woodburn, to Eli and Everna Walker Frizzell, she married Joseph Cartwright on June 6, 1929, in Leon. She was a teacher in Clark County and served as director of the Cedar Rapids Children's Home for 10 years until retiring in 1974.
