Viola S. Courter was the daughter of Peter and Margaret Bell [Lee] Courter. She married John Hannah and they were the parents of five girls, including Jennie Reil Hannah. The following text is on Viola Courter's diploma.

To Whom this may Concern:
It is Hereby Certified, That Viola Courter has completed the course of study in the Publich Schools of Henry County, Iowa, and has passed a satisfactory examination in the branches of said course.
Given at Mt. Pleasant Iowa, this 23rd day of March, A.D. 1888
