Charles F. Walker was the son of Charles Pearsey Walker's brother, Leander. Charles F.'s mother died when he was a very young child, and his father, Leander, who had moved back to Indiana, sent his young son to Iowa to be raised by his own father, Charles F.'s grandfather, Francis S. Walker. Charles remained in Iowa for the remainder of his life.
