Sarah Alpha Watton was born August 31, 1861 in Lowell, Henry County, Iowa, and died May 1950 in Lowell, Henry County, Iowa. She married Abner Edward Thornburg January 26, 1882 in Fort Madison, Lee County, Iowa. He was born April 19, 1859 in New Garden, Lee County, Iowa, and died March 27, 1921 in Lowell, Henry County, Iowa (Sarah is Samuel Nathaniel Walker's second cousin).

Their children were:

Jennie Atha Thornburg, born March 22, 1883, Lee County, Iowa; died March 24, 1923, Henry County, Iowa.

Harry Eugene Thornburg, born October 8, 1885, Lee County, Iowa; died June 9, 1926, Lee County, Iowa.

John Edward Thornburg, born February 26, 1887, Lee County, Iowa; died December 4, 1936, Des Moines County, Iowa.

Charlie Burton Thornburg, born May 17, 1890, Pilot Grove, Lee County, Iowa; died February 17, 1986, Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. Charlie married Annetta May Jones of Salem, Henry County, Iowa. She was born November 24, 1894 and died September 3, 1980. Charlie and Annetta had four children: Burton Eugene, Velva May, Marna Irene, and Dayton Lyle Thornburg.

Lloyd Earl Thornburg, born July 10, 1892, Lee County, Iowa; died March 22, 1983, Henry County, Iowa. Lloyd married Anna Berry and their children were: LaVern, Myron, Thomas, Dale, Harold, Edward, and Duane Thornburg

Lee Grace Thornburg, born November 2, 1895, Lee County, Iowa; died August 18, 1896, Lee County, Iowa.

Laura Veronica Thornburg, who was born September 22, 1897 in Lee County, Iowa and died February 1, 1987 in Henry County, Iowa. Laura married Lee Pickle, and they had the following children: Florence [Pickle] Martin, Dorothy Clara [Pickle] Blint (her link includes a descendant list), Hazel [Pickle] Blint, Joseph, Richard, Velma [Pickle] Weigert, James, Joyce [Pickle] Foster, Jean [Pickle] Tibbs, Gwen [Pickle] Lear, Karen [Pickle] Putnam, Mary [Pickle] Gohr, and Marjorie [Pickle] Foster.
