Wesley Smith Walker - Short Bio

Wesley Smith Walker, the son of George Walker Jr. and Sarah Lane, was born on December 31, 1846 in Clinton County, Indiana, died on October 18, 1930 in Darlington, Gentry County, Missouri and was buried on October 21, 1930 in Rouse Cemetery, Gentry County, Missouri. He and his parents and family moved to Missouri in 1854 from Indiana, and his father bought a farm south of Darlington, where Wesley remained until 1917 when he moved into the town of Darlington. Wesley was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted when only 15 years old. His mother mentions him in a family letter to Wesley's uncle, Francis Samuel Walker in 1861. After the war on January 20, 1870, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Nancy Cranor, on January 20, 1870. She died on December 5, 1925.

Wesley and Nancy had nine children. These children died before 1930: Perry Elixes Walker; Malinda Jane Walker; Viola Irene Walker; Deborah Ann [Walker] Crosswhite; and Minnie Frances [Walker] Jameson. These children were still alive when their father died: Jennie [Walker] Austin; John W. Walker; Ella [Walker] Pruden; Mabel [Walker] Craven.
