Vashti Annie Walker was born January 21, 1833 in Milton, Wayne County, Indiana. She died at age 95 on January 31, 1929, most probably in Henry County, Iowa. She married Jehiel Brewer in about 1852 in Wayne County, Indiana. He had been raised at least part of his life with the family of Francis Samuel and Catherine Pearsey Walker. Jehiel was born in 1831 in Indiana. He and Vashti had one daughter, Mary Catharine Brewer, who was born March 20, 1857 in Wabash County, Indiana (and died May 24, 1913 in Henry County, Iowa). Mary married Benjamin Franklin Hand (Frank Hand) July 26, 1886 at the home of Kate Britton in New London, Iowa.
Vashti's husband, Jehiel, evidently didn't live long after his marriage; he either died in Indiana and Vashti moved to Iowa or else he died in Iowa when Mary was quite young leaving Vashti to take her daughter to live with her parents, Francis Samuel and Catherine Pearsey Walker. (F. S. and Catherine had moved to Henry County, Iowa in 1856.) At age 48 after daughter Mary was an adult, Vashti married the widower John Edgar, patriarch of the Edgars in Henry County, Iowa (March 1881).
Vashti was still living "near New London" (Iowa) in 1922 when her brother, Charles Pearsey Walker, died.
