Alice [Walker] Gregory - Short Bio

Alice [Walker] Gregory, the daughter of William Pearsey Walker and Mary Anderson, was born in New London, Henry County, Iowa, on August 17, 1871. She was the third child born to William and Mary; her two younger siblings, sister Louisa and brother Francis, died of diphtheria the year she was born. On December 30, 1896 Alice married Henry Allen Gregory, the son of Edward Isett Gregory and grandson of William Gregory, in Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa. Alice and Henry, who was blind, lived much of their life in Hurdland, Knox County, Missouri, near Alice's father, William Pearsey Walker, who at one point was mayor of the nearby town of Novelty, Missouri. Before his death, William Walker moved away from Missouri and live with other daughters in Iowa and Nebraska. He died in 1924 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Alice and Henry Gregory had the following children and known descendants:

Mildred Kathryn Gregory, born September 28, 1897 in Hurdland, Knox County, Missouri, died January 1973 in Hurdland. Mildred married Duane Fremont Craven, who was born September 10, 1909 in Worth County, Missouri and died February 2, 1980 in Kansas City, Missouri. They were married August 30, 1933 in Grant City, Missouri. Duane is buried in the "Old Brick Cemetery." Mildred and Duane had at least five children.

Grace Gregory, born July 26, 1903, died July 12, 1991, both in Hurdland, Knox County, Missouri. At age 50, Grace married Oliver Thomas (Joe?) of Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois.

Wallace Gregory, born January 23, 1908, died December 25, 1995, both in Hurdland, Knox County, Missouri. It is not known whom he married, but believed Wallace did have descendants.
