Sarah Elizabeth [Moyers] Larkin - Short Bio

Sarah Moyers was the third child born to Samuel and Lucinda [Deen] Moyers. She was married December 19, 1871 to James Wilbur Larkin, born the 2nd of October, 1851 in Des Moines County, Iowa. He died December 7, 1919 in New London, Iowa; he married Emma Ann Loper after Sarah's death in 1881. They had five children and the following descendants (this information was kindly provided by Kathy Begey):

Adolphus Lee Larkin was born on November 18, 1872 in Des Moines County, Iowa and died on February 2, 1955 in Burlingame, San Mateo County, California. Adolphus married Pearle Shepherd, the daughter of Lewis Clark Shepherd and Nancy Calvin, on 22 May 1905 in Redfield, Bourbon County, Kansas. Their two children were: Lewis Shepherd Larkin, who was born on 20 August 1908 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, died on February 18, 1983 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri and was buried on 21 Feb 1983 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Lewis Larkin married Merceda Pearl Miles and had a daughter, Merceda Larkin. Merceda Larkin married Ronald Austerman. They have three children: Ryan Joseph Austerman; Caroline Louise Austerman; and Mathew Austerman Austerman. Adolphus Larkin's son, Lewis Shepherd Larkin, next married Dorothy McClintic and had a daughter, Luanne Larkin; and Adolphus and Pearl Larkin also had a daughter, Sarah Blanche Larkin. Sarah married Paul Tarter and had a son, Steven Tarter.

Nora Olive Larkin was born on 15 Apr 1874. She married Wiley Cunningham on November 3, 1895 in Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa. Children from this marriage were: Iris Vera Cunningham, who was born on September 26, 1896 and died on the 13th of March, 1974. Iris married Carl A. Melcher. Iris next married John F. Heckert. She married Creston Thomas Olmsted and had a daughter, Lucille Elizabeth Olmsted; Nora and Wiley Cunningham also had a son, Lloyd Ulysses Cunningham, born on November 5, 1898 and died on June 5, 1972. Lloyd married Bernice Moody in 1933 and had a son, Alva Leo Cunningham, who was born in August 1900 and died on November 26, 1990. Alva married Minnie McKamey, Marie Wendell, and also Reva Dunn; Nora and Wiley Cunningham also had a son, Kenneth Ralph Cunningham, who was born on July 8, 1902 and died on 28 Aug 1973.

Abigail Blanche Larkin was born on 20 Nov 1875 in Columbus Junction, Louisa County, Iowa, died on 14 Nov 1947 in Des Moines County, Iowa and was buried in 1947 in Kossuth Cemetery, Des Moines County, Iowa. She married Ira D. Marshall, the son of Oliver Spencer Marshall and Elzena Clark on December 24, 1894 in Columbus Junction, Iowa. The children from this marriage were:

Daisy Esther Marshall, born on December 10, 1895.

Burton Everett Marshall, born March 14, 1897.

Hazel May Marshall, born on May 8, 1899. She married a man named Granaman.

David Ira Marshall, who was born on September 24, 1900.

Oliver James Marshall.

Ralph Waldo Marshall. Ralph married Vera Mary Young.

Walter Spencer Marshall.

Samuel W. Larkin was born on September 4, 1877 and died on April 20, 1968. He married Bessie Helverson on February 22, 1900 in Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa. They had three children: Neita Larkin; May Larkin, and Samuel J. Larkin, who was born on July 23, 1909, died on March 31, 1991 and was buried in the Oakland Cemetery at Fort Madison, Lee County, Iowa. Samuel W. Larkin also married Virginia E. Rose.

Bert James Larkin was born on the 9th of May, 1879 in Morning Sun, Louisa County, Iowa, died on September 6, 1923, and was buried in in Fort Scott, Bourban County, Kansas. Bert married Ethel L. McAllister on 15 May 1907 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. Their children were: Kenneth Hoyt Larkin, who married Jeannette Vera Willingand and had three sons. Their sons were Bert K. Larkin, Larry Larkin, and Bruce Larkin. Son Bruce Larkin married Dorothea Ellen O'Neill and they have two daughters, Amy Elizabeth Larkin, and April Ann Larkin; Bert and Ethel Larkin's other son was Wilbur B. Larkin; and they had a daughter, Dorothy Larkin.

Sarah and James Larkin are both buried in Loper Cemetery in Franklin Township, Des Moines County, Iowa.
