Walter Spencer Marshall - Short Bio

Walter Spencer Marshall Sr., the son of Ira David Marshall and Abigail Blanche Larkin, was born on September 16, 1913 in Sperry, Des Moines County, Iowa and died on March 16, 1980 in Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa, at age 66. Walter served in the US Navy during World War II. Later, he was a mechanic at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant near Middletown, Iowa, before his retirement in 1971.

Walter married Helen Frances Alderson on September 3, 1937 in Kahoka, Clark County, Missouri. Helen was born on January 29, 1914 and died on June 27, 1984 in Iowa City at age 70. They had three children:

Walter Leroy Marshall Jr. was born on September 16, 1938 in Iowa and died on March 16, 1980 in Iowa City at age 41. He married Joyce Kay Baker, on March 4, 1958. Joyce was born on January 29, 1914 and died on June 27, 1984, at age 70. They had one child: Karen K. Marshall.

Larry Francis Marshall was born on January 1, 1939 in Sperry, died at age 40 on November 27, 1979 near Carman, Henderson County, Illinois (he was living in Dallas City, Illinois, at the time), and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Burlington. He married Judith Eunice Connolly, daughter of Wallace Connolly and they had one child, Tamara Shannon Marshall. Larry also married Patsy Kay Hall.

Norma Jean (Jean) Marshall, who married Jacob Iven Baker. They had two children, Shawn and Ann Baker. Jean next married John Michael King, son of John King and Mary Jean Rial, on January 5, 1985 in Kirksville Cemetery, Kirksville, Missouri. Mike was born on December 18, 1943 in South Bend, Saint Joseph County, Indiana, died on February 1, 2001 in Knoxville, Marion County, Iowa, at age 57, and was buried in National Cemetery, Rock Island County, Illinois. They had two children: Shawn and Ann King.
