Gilbert C. Marshall - Short Bio
Gilbert C. Marshall was the son of James A. Marshall and Emma Adeline Conrad. He was born on August 10, 1903 in near Winfield, Henry County, Iowa, died on April 20, 1998 in Burlington Medical Center, West Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa and was buried on April 23, 1998 in Elmwood Cemetery, near Morning Sun, Louisa County, Iowa. Gib graduated from Winfield High School, fought in the U. S. army in World War II, and was a Methodist. On February 26, 1929, he married Opal Pauline Baird, the daughter of Thomas Anderson Baird and Cora May [Congrove] Baird. The marriage ended in divorce. They did have three children: Elwood Baird Marshall (the husband of Beverly Broeker), Marcella Ann Marshall, and Paul Dean Marshall.
He later married Ina Jamison on March 12, 1945. She died July 23, 1976. He then married Ruby Robbins on July 10, 1978. She died July 1989.
Gilbert also had two stepdaughters, Sharon Beik of Grandview, Iowa; and Mary Price of Plano, Texas; they were perhaps the daughters of Ruby Robbins.
