David Ira Marshall, the son of Ira David Marshall and Abigail Blanche Larkin, was born on September 24, 1900 in Sperry, Des Moines County, Iowa died on February 9, 1953 in New London, Henry County, Iowa, at age 52, and was buried in Kossuth Cemetery, Des Moines County, Iowa. The cause of his death was a brain tumor.

David married Margaret Elizabeth White, on September 25, 1920 in Mediapolis, Des Moines County, Iowa. Margaret was born on July 23, 1902 in Mediapolis, died on February 19, 1995 in Burlington, and was buried in Kossuth Cemetery. They had and raised seven children: Alice Elaine, Mildred Joan, James David "Jim," Robert Dean, Ruth Margaret, Jane Marie, and Edward Wayne, "Eddie."
