Abigail Blanche [Larkin] Marshall - Short Bio

Abigail Blanche Larkin was the daughter of James Wilbur Larkin and Sarah Elizabeth Moyers (Larkin); Sarah was a sister of George Moyers, making Abigail his niece as well as a first cousin to George and Rebecca Moyers' children. Born in Columbus Junction, Louisa County, Iowa on November 20, 1875, Abigail married Ira D. Marshall December 24, 1894 in Columbus Junction and they raised a family of seven children. Ira Marshall was born October 25, 1872 in Des Moines County Iowa; he was the son of Oliver Spencer and Elzena [Clark] Marshall.

Some of the descendants of Ira and Abigail Marshall were:

Daisy Esther Marshall, who was born December 10, 1895, Franklin Township, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died April 18, 1991, in Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. Daisy married Herbert Charles Burgus, who was born March 28, 1898, Benton Township, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died February 7, 1960, in Sperry, Des Moines County, Iowa. Daisy and Charles were married September 25, 1918, in Burlington. They had five children: Dorothy Leota Burgus, who was born January 31, 1918, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died November 10, 1998 in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa; Harold Samuel Burgus, who was born March 5, 1920, Sperry, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died October 24, 2001 in Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa; LaVera Evelyn Burgus; Pauline Ruth Burgus; and James Andrew Burgus, who was born April 26, 1932, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died April 6, 1998 in Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa.

Burton Everett Marshall, who was born March 24, 1897, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died March 25, 1980 in Chandler, Maricopa County, Arizona. Burton married Luella Clara Kissinger, who was born October 1, 1898 in Iowa, and died August 4, 1983 in Iowa. They were married March 22, 1923 in Burlington, Iowa. Burton and Luella had two children: Donald Everett Marshall, who was born May 18, 1924, Ames, Story County, Iowa, and died on December 14, 1956 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky; and Joyce Ruth Marshall.

Hazel May Marshall, who was born May 8, 1899, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died July 11, 1997, Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. Hazel married William Leslie Granaman, who was born December 13, 1901, Iowa, and died April 11, 1972 in Iowa. Hazel and William were married February 22, 1922 in Burlington. They had four children: Lois Mae Granaman; Betty Aileen Granaman; Evelyn Elaine Granaman; and Shirley Ethyl Granaman.

David Ira Marshall, who was born September 24, 1900 in Sperry, Des Moines County, Iowa and died February 9, 1953 in New London, Henry County, Iowa. David married Margaret Elizabeth White, who was born July 23, 1902 in Mediapolis, Des Moines County, Iowa. She died February 19, 1995, in Burlington. David and Margarete were married September 25, 1920 in Mediapolis. Their children were: Alice Elaine Marshall, born June 28, 1923 in New London, Iowa, and died June 11, 1982 in Mediapolis, Iowa; Mildred Joan Marshall, born June 27, 1924 in Dodgeville, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died April 17, 1925 (buried in the Kossuth Cemetery, near Mediapolis); James David Marshall; Robert Dean Marshall; Ruth Margaret Marshall; Jane Marie Marshall; and Edward Wayne Marshall.

Oliver James Marshall, who was born June 15, 1902, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died December 10, 1961 in Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. Oliver married Ethel Eleanor Drinkall, who was born July 29, 1903, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died April 1, 1995 in Mediapolis, Des Moines County, Iowa. Oliver and Ethel were married September 5, 1923 in Yarmouth, Iowa. Their four children were: Marjorie Blanche Marshall, born November 13, 1925 in Mediapolis, and died July 22, 1996 in Burlington; Doris Marie Marshall; Wilma Lavonne Marshall; and Mary Ann Marshall.

Ralph Waldo Marshall, who was born December 15, 1908, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died December 17, 1989/ Ralph is buried at Kossuth Cemetery near Mediapolis, Iowa. He married Vera Mary Young, who was born August 30, 1915, in Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa, and died August 23, 1995. They had three children: Ralph Leon Marshall; Ethel Lona Marshall; and David Clark Marshall, who on July 15, 1961 in Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa, married Viola Hazel Schmidt (born July 31, 1912, and died May 3, 1985).

Walter Spencer Marshall was born September 16, 1913, Des Moines County, Iowa, and died March 16, 1980, Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa. He married Helen Frances Alderson, who was born January 29, 1914, and died June 27, 1984 in Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa. Walter and Helen were married September 3, 1937 in Kahoka, Clark County, Missouri. They had three children: Walter Leroy Marshall, who was born September 16, 1938, Iowa, and died March 16, 1980, in Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa; Larry Francis Marshall, who was born January 1, 1939, Iowa, and died November 27, 1979, in Iowa; and Norma Jean Marshall.

Abigail Marshall died November 14, 1947 in Des Moines County, Iowa. Ira D. Marshall died on December 27, 1963. Both Ira and Abigail were buried in the Kossuth Cemetery, Des Moines County, Iowa.
