Oscar Brown Dotson - Short Bio

Oscar Dotson was descended from Daniel Dotson and Mary Sutton of Wales and England, respectively. He was the son of Mark Dotson and Martha Beir; and grandson of Bazzel S. Dotson. The Dotsons emigrated from the British Isles to Pennsylvania, and then members of the family settled in Louisa County, Iowa. Oscar was born in 1881, and in about 1900 or 1901 he married Edith V. Baxter of Northfield, Des Moines County, Iowa, and they had eight children:

Theodore Roosevelt Dotson (January 5, 1902 - September 28, 1997), born in Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa, died at W. A. Foote Memorial Hospital, Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, buried at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. Ted was married to Myrtle [Walker] Dotson. Ted and Myrtle's descendants are listed on their individual alpha pages.

Verona V. Dotson, who married George Percy Walker. George and Verona's descendants are listed on their individual alpha pages.

Cleao R. Dotson, who was born May 09, 1904 in Louisa County Iowa died November 02, 1973 in Hayward, Alameda County, California. He was married to Bessie Lokee Sterling, born October 31, 1910 and died December 07, 1994 in Los Angeles County, California. They had two children: Dixie and Steve Dotson.

(William) Boyd Dotson was born June 06, 1908 in Iowa and died February 1987 in Bourbonnais, Kankakee County, Illinois. Boyd married Louise Edgar (March 11, 1910 - January 21, 2000 in South Holland, Cook County, Illinois). They were married about 1930 and had one son, Dewey Dotson.

Bert Kuttle Dotson, who was born October 25, 1915 in Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa - February 4, 2000 in Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois. Bert was born during a time period when Oscar moved the family to Northern Illinois. They also lived in Missouri for a while (according to stories told Scott Alan Lox by his grandfather, Ted Dotson) before returning to the farm in Louisa County, Iowa. Bert married Leuna Mae Delzell of Kansas. She was born October 08, 1921 and died April 03, 1983 in Freeport, Illinois. They had three children:
