Myrtle Walker, a daughter of Samuel Nathaniel Walker and Hattie Mae Moyers, was born June 25, 1903 in Louisa County, Iowa, and died September 18, 1990 in Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. She is buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
Myrtle attended Midway School near the family farm in the vicinity of Newport, Louisa County, Iowa, when she was a young girl. Her mother died when she was fifteen years old; at that time Myrtle quit her schooling and helped take care of her very large family (her mother had eleven children before she died).
Myrtle married Theodore Roosevelt (Ted) Dotson on December 2, 1922 at Wapello, Iowa. Ted was born January 5, 1902 in Iowa, the eldest child of Oscar B. and Edith V. [Baxter] Dotson. He died September 28, 1997 in Burlington, Iowa.
For a long number of years Myrtle and Ted Dotson lived in New London, Iowa. Myrtle worked as a clerk at the Red and White Grocery Store (Benner Tea Company) in New London for many of those years. In about 1956 she and Ted moved to Cottage Grove Street in West Burlington, Iowa, where they spend the remainder of their lives.
Myrtle and Ted had one son, one daughter, and three grandchildren. Their children are:
