Daisy Pearsey was born in July, 1869 in Westland, Indiana to George and Mary (Boblett) Pearsey. After her mother died in 1895 of childbirth, Daisy took on the task of raising her infant brother Marshal. This was a lifelong labor of love, Marshal always calling her mother.

Daisy married on August 15, 1895 to Charles Black, born in 1862. George [Pearsey] gave her a log cabin at 220 N. Spencer Street in Rushville [Indiana], so she would always have a place to live. Daisy performed midwife duties for the Pearsey family all her life, doing the housework and cooking for the new mother.

Daisy's home was a place for family reunions, which she helped organize during the 1930's. Her apple pies are fondly remembered. In 1911, Charles Black passed away, being buried in East Hill [Indiana]. Daisy died in 1935, being buried by his side.
