Giuseppe Antonio Anderlini - Short Bio

Giuseppe Antonio Anderlini, the son of Giovanni Giuseppe Anderlini and Anna Maria Bertta, was born on October 8, 1866 in Formazza, Verbano-Cussio-Ossolo, Piemonte, Italy died on April 6, 1962 (possibly April 4) in Weaverville, Trinity County, California, at age 95, and was buried in Weaverville, Trinity County, California. In America, Giuseppi used the name Joseph.

Joseph was a laborer; he also worked in Kennett, California as a coroner. He operated a leather shop at one time in the Craig Building, which burned down between 1930-35.

Joseph married Sarah Magdaline Dickey, daughter of James Calvin Dickey and Eve Ellen Tryer, on May 19, 1892 in Lewiston, Trinity County, California. Sarah was born on November 20, 1870 in Lowell, Henry County, Iowa, died on September 13, 1952 in Weaverville, Trinity County, California, at age 81, and was buried on September 17, 1952 in Weaverville, Trinity County, California. (Sarah Dickey's grandmother was Rebecca [Walker] Tryer, the sister of Francis Samuel Walker.)

Sarah and Joseph had eight children:

  • Ella Teresa Anderlini was born on March 25, 1893 in Napa, Napa County, California and died on December 20, 1971 in Trinity County, California, at age 78. Ella married Curtis M. Bennett, whose mother's surname was Hughes, on November 25, 1911 in Weaverville, Trinity County. Curt was born on June 9, 1881 in California and died on October 21, 1968 (or possibly that date in 1969) at age 87 (/88) in Trinity County. They had two children: Vivian Ella Bennett, born on July 15, 1913 in California and died on December 4, 1995 in Chico, Butte County, California, at age 82. Vivian married a man named Eliassen; and Emily M. Bennett, who was born on December 6, 1917 in California and died on August 12, 1983 in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California, at age 65. She married Thomas Crill. They had two children: Duane and Thomas ("Tommy").
  • Joseph Calvin Anderlini (who probably used the last name "Anderline") was born on January 30, 1895 in Napa, Napa County, California died on January 12, 1965 in Trinity County, California, at age 69, and was buried in Weaverville. His social security records indicate at one time or another he worked for the railroad.
  • Bernie Louis Anderlini (Anderline) was born on February 28, 1897 in Lewiston, Trinity County, California and died at age 69 on December 2, 1966 in Shasta County, California. Another name for Bernie was Barney.
  • Ethel Elizabeth Anderlini (Anderline) was born on April 19, 1896 in Lewiston, Trinity County, California and died on September 7, 1993 in Arcada, Humboldt County, California, at age 97. I am slightly confused about Ethel's lineage, as the California Death Index online indicates this Ethel was married to an Anderlini, not born one:
    	ANDERLINI, ETHEL MIRENDA; born: 04/19/1896; Mother's maiden name:
    	HUGHES; Father's Surname: FOGG; sex: F; state where born: CALIFORNIA;
    	county where death occurred: HUMBOLDT; died: 09/07/1993; social
    	security #: 553-21-2509; age at time of death: 97 yrs.

    Ethel married Frederick Alvin Carstens, the son of Henry J. Carstens and Minnie Dettbarn. Fred was born on November 21, 1897 in San Francisco, California and died on January 30, 1986 in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California, at age 88. They had one son, whose name is not known. He married a woman named Hightower.

    Ethel Anderlini next married Malcolm Russell. Malcolm was born about 1902 in Weaverville.
  • An Anderlini daughter died the day she was born, May 4, 1899 in French Gulch, Shasta County, California.
  • George Leas Anderlini (Anderline) was born on November 25, 1900 (or the same date in 1901) in Weaverville, Trinity County, California and died on December 24, 1980 in Trinity County. He was 80 at the time of his death. George was the cofounder of the Trinity County Historical Society. It is said he was a very well-respected man in his community. George married Gertrude Gertie Anita Dettbarn. Gertrude was born on November 18, 1909 in San Mateo County, California and died on February 26, 1982 in Weaverville.
  • Emily Jane Anderlini (Anderline) was born on October 25, 1903 in Weaverville, California died on February 13, 1977 in Redding, Shasta County, California, at age 73, and was buried on February 16, 1977 in McDonald's Park, Redding. Another name for Emily was Dorothy Emily Anderlini. Emily married Fred William Johnstone, son of William Johnstone and Katherine Mohr, on September 15, 1922 in Weaverville. Fred was born on November 10, 1888 in Martin, Butte County, Idaho, died on July 25, 1962 in Redding, California, at age 73, and was buried on July 28, 1962 in Redding. They had one daughter, Elizabeth Hazel Johnstone. She was born on July 22, 1923 in California, married a man named Alger, and died on March 8, 1955 in Contra Costa County, California, at age 31.
  • Hazel Arletta Anderlini (Anderline) was born on January 25, 1910 (or possibly January 25, 1900) in Weaverville, Trinity County, California and died on July 15, 1971, at age 61 (/71).
