    Biography 
    • A biographical sketch as written by genealogist, Kelvin Boyle:

      Margaret Elizabeth Giertz was born April 14, 1906, in Joliet, Will County, Illinois, the daughter of Henry William and Lillian Bell Moyers Giertz. She attended the local elementary school and on June 9, 1918, became a member of the Ottawa Street Methodist Church in Joliet. During her years as a member of the church she served as a Sunday School teacher and also served a term as President of the Wesleyan Service Guide. She attended several colleges including the University of Illinois, Western Reserve, James Milliken University, and the University of Oklahoma. Margaret Giertz started as an elementary teacher and eventually became the Principle of Taft School in Joliet. After many years of service to the school system, she retired to Roswell, New Mexico, where she spent the last twenty years of her life. She never married and died March 8, 1995, at the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center South in Roswell. At the time of her death, she lived at 1303 Yale Drive, Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico. The local Ballard Funeral Home handled the arrangements and services were held Friday, March 10, 1995, at the Trinity Methodist Church in Roswell, with the Reverend Jeffrey A. Symonds officiating. She is buried next to her parents in grave 7, lot 193, in the Ridgeland Section of Elmhurst Cemetery, 1212 East Washington Street, Joliet, Illinois.
