    • Sandra Kay Anderson, 65, of Camden, Maine, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland, Maine.

      Born February 9, 1943, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Marshal and Betty Granaman Brockway. On July 6, 1962, she married Richard M. Anderson in Burlington.

      Mrs. Anderson was an accomplished artist. She expressed herself in metal and clay sculpture, as well as oil, acrylic and watercolors. She also enjoyed found-object art and loved collecting things she could use for her creations. She was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School.

      She led the restoration of the Andersons' 1870 summer cottage, which eventually was expanded and was an attraction for all three local home and garden tours. She was a member of the garden club and served on the board of both the Camden Garden Club and the Maine Center for Contemporary Art. She loved dancing, sailing and traveling with her husband to the Galapagos Islands, Italy, France and England.

      Survivors include her husband; her parents of Burlington; one daughter, Holly S. Anderson of Camden; two sons, Todd M. Anderson and Derek R. Anderson, both of Camden; four grandchildren; and one brother, Lonnie J. Brockway of Sunny Valley, Oregon.

      Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home in Rockland, Maine.

      The celebration of life for Mrs. Anderson will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Camden Opera House with the Reverend Kevin Pleas officiating. A reception will follow at 6 Dillingham Point in Camden.

      Parking for the service, with shuttle transportation, will be available at First Congregational Church, 55 Elm Street, Camden.

      Due to restricted parking at Sandy's home, shuttle service will also be available to the reception.

      A memorial has been established for Alzheimer's Association Maine Chapter in Falmouth, Youth Arts in Camden and Center for Maine Contemporary Art's Student Exhibition in Rockport.

    Sandra Brockway was a Burlington, Iowa, native. Born in 1943 she was the daughter of Marshall Frank Brockway and Betty Aileen Granaman, and a descendant of James Wilbur and Sarah Elizabeth (Moyers) Larkin. Sandra married Richard M. Anderson in Burlington in 1962. They resided in Maine in 2008, when she died March 2. There are three children from the marriage of Richard and Sandra Brockway.
