    • New London Couple to Observe 50th Anniversary

New London Journal -- Next Wednesday, June 8, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Walker will observe either golden wedding anniversary. They were married in 1905 at the home of the bride's parents, the Reverend and Mrs. J. W. Fraker, Mt. Pleasant. Her father performed the ceremony.

Mr. Walker has spent his entire life in New London township and Mrs. Walker came here in 1900 when her father was pastor of the Methodist church. Mr. Walker joined the church in 1896 and they have both been active members since. He was a member of the building committee when the present church was constructed in 1914 and served as trustee and in other capacities during the many years. Mrs. Walker was a charter member of the Kings Daughters class organized in in 1920 with nine members. In these years they have seen many changes in the church and community. There are only three living who were members of the church in 1898.

They have the distinction of living in the same house since their marriage.

Mr. Walker was in the hardware business where DeSpain is now located and sold the business to William Walker. In 1917 he was elected assistant cashier of the Iowa State bank and in the early twenties a director and served as director until 1954.

Friends are cordially invited to call between the hours of 3 and 5. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Eggleston, Miss Camille Eggleston, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Crawford, Miss Marcia Crawford, Mrs. Louise Fraker Cremens and daughter, Janet, all of Chicago, and Frank Fraker of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, will be among out-of-town guests for the Walkers' golden anniversary.
