    • Lowell (IA) -- Lloyd Earl Thornburg, 90, Bonaparte, formerly of Lowell, died Tuesday, March 22, in Klein Hospital, Burlington.

      He was born July 10, 1892, at Pilot Grove to Abner and Dorale (sic) Watton Thornburg. He married Anna Berry December 21, 1916, at. New London; she died July 14, 1980.

      He was a retired farmer.

      Surviving: Seven sons, LaVerne, Danville, Myron, Keosauqua, Thomas, Oakville, Dale and Edward, both of Bonaparte, Harold, Farmington, and Duane, Burlington; brother Charles, New London: two sisters, Mildred Fry, Weiser, Idaho, and Laura Pickle, New London; 35 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

      Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday, Elliott Chapel, New London, the Reverend Robert Dodds; Burge Cemetery. A memorial to the Lowell Street Light Fund has been established.

      Abner (died 1921) and Alpha Thornburg's children were Harry (1885-1926), John, C.B. (Charrlie), Lloyd, Laura (Mrs. Lee) Pickle, and Mildred Fry. At the time of her death in 1950, Alpha Thornburg had forty grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Charlie Thornburg married Nettie Jones, daughter of William and Ionia Thompson Jones, and sister of Lloyd Jones. Children of Charlie and Nettie Thornburg were Burton [who] married Delilah Parsons and their children were Marilyn Buchholz and Marcia. Dayton and Janice Elder Thornburg's daughter was Trudy.

      Lloyd Thornburg married Anna Berry, daughter of Myron and Josephine Duke Berry, and their children were LaVern, Myron, Thomas, Dale, Harold, Edward, and Duane. Children of Lee and Laura Pickle were Florence Martin, Dorothy Blint, Hazel Blint, Joseph, Richard (Jack), Velma Weigert, James, Joyce Foster, Jean Tebbs, Gwen Lear, Karen Putnam, and Mary Gohr. Lyle Thornburg is John's grandson. Lyle married Shirley Hobart.

    The Obituary of Lloyd Earl Thornburg
    Lloyd Earl Thornburg was a son of Abner Edward and Sarah "Alpha" (Watton) Thornburg. He married Anna Ada Berry, and they had seven children. Lloyd died March 22, 1983, at Klein Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Iowa. He is buried in the Burge Cemetery near New London, Iowa.
