    Alt. Spelling/AKA
    • His given name may have been spelled "Phillip," as Des Moines County, Iowa, cemetery information reports, but as his father's name was "Philip," and that was the spelling of Phil(l)ip Jr.'s name in his father obituary, it seems likely it only had one "L."

    Six Kissinger Brothers
    Six Kissinger Brothers
These men, all brothers, were born in New York and in Iowa in the mid 19th century. Their parents were John Kissinger (1830-1904) and Margaretha Miller (1831-1879), both German immigrants who eventually settled in Des Moines County, Iowa. As I remember it, the photograph, when I got it a number of years back courtesy of descendant, Fred Kissinger, did not have any identification of which brother is which. As there were seven brothers in the family and only six in this photograph (the first who died was George in 1929), that is also problematic. The list of all the brothers is: Jacob Kissinger (1854-1932), John Kissinger (1855-1937), Philip H. Kissinger (1857-1932), George E. Kissinger (1860-1929), Edward Kissinger (1963-1947), Theodore Kissinger (1869-1940), and Henry Kissinger (1875-1962). Henry, the youngest, was the father of Alice Frances (Kissinger) Walker (1901-1964), who married Earl Leander Walker.
