      Rudolph Oscar Lucas, 59-year-old president of Burlington Cooperative Milk Producers Association, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday (June 14, 1966) in Burlington hospital.

      A life resident of Des Moines county, Mr. Lucas operated a tree and dairy farm on Burlington Route 3.

      He was president of Excelsior school board; a director of Southeast Iowa District, American Dairy Association, Tree Farm Association, and Mediapolis Mutual Telephone Company; a trustee of Flint River township; and a former township assessor. Mr. Lucas was a member of St. John United Church of Flint River Township (Steeple Church) and of the Des Moines County Farm Bureau.

      He was the son of Fred W. and Ida Lowe Lucas, and was born April 12, 1907. He was married to Ida May Fehse at Burlington on June 22, 1929. Surviving: The wife; sons Lyle Eugene and LaVerne Lucas, both of Mediapolis Route 3; daughter Mrs. Beverly Smith of 1305 Corse Street, and five grandchildren.

      Also surviving: Brothers Clarence Lucas of Mediapolis and Harry Lucas of Sperry and sisters Mrs. Selma Drebenstedt of Middletown and Mrs. Esther Hemmer of 1406 North Eighth Street.

      Services: St. John United church of Christ at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Reverend Joseph Mayer, St. John cemetery. The body is at the Fry Chapel, in Mediapolis.
