    The Burlington Hawk-Eye 
    • William Fehse died yesterday morning about 10 o'clock at his home, 1221 Virginia street.

      He was born in Germany about eighty years ago. After serving in Prussian army in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, Mr. Fehse came to America. He was a resident of Burlington for almost fifty years. He operated a truck farm on the Mason road near Burlington.

      Mr. Fehse is survived by three sons, Adolph at home; Arthur of Burlington, Frank of Oklahoma: and by two daughters, Mrs. Henry Riepe of Burlington and Mrs. John Brumm of Farmington, Iowa. His wife died seven years ago.

      The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home and at 2:30 o'clock from St. Lucas church, of which the deceased was a member.

    • The funeral of William Fehse was held yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home, 1221 Virginia street, with services at 2:30 at St. Lucas church. Burial was made in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
    Research 
    • There is a William "Frazer" in Burlington in 1870 working as a carpenter, age 35, from Prussia. There is no Wiliam Fehse, although as he was naturalized in 1871, it would indicate he probably would have been in the area (he immigrated to the US in 1868).

    The Obituary of William August Fehse
    William August Fehse, a native of Germany, was born in 1838. He immigrated to the United States after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, and settled in Burlington, Iowa. He married Elizabeth "Louise" Daries (1848-1911) and had eight children: Arthur William Fehse (the husband of Mary Margaret Brumm), Frank E., Adalph (who died young), Nellie D. Riepe, Rosa D. Brumm (the wife of John Fred Brumm), and Adolph Frederick Fehse. William died March 6, 1919, in Burlington.
