    • Mrs. Louisa Metts Dies at Bice Home, Lockridge
      Last Rites at Methodist Church Tuesday.

      Mrs. Louisa Strope Metts, 86, a resident of this place for many years, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Walter Bice, at Lockridge, Iowa, November 2d (1941).

      The body was brought here Tuesday afternoon and the funeral services held from the Methodist church, conducted by Reverend E. L. McClure, with interment at Elmwood cemetery. The singers were Mr. and Mrs. Will Yohe, with Mrs. Deam as accompanist. The pall bearers were Ellis Harris, Forrest Harris, Richard Bice, Carl McSparin, Laurence Jamison and Cecil Leeds.

      Mrs. Metts was a charter member of the Methodist church, which she faithfully attended as long as health permitted. For some past years she had been making her home with her daughters in El Paso and Lockridge.

      Relatives and friends called here for the funeral were: Mrs. M. B. Jamison of Amarillo; Mrs. A. C. Bowhay of El Paso; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bice and family of Lockridge; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jamison and daughter Lucile and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Jamison of Columbus Junction; Mrs. Gladys Leeds, Mr. and Mrs. Carl McSparin and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Leeds, Jr., of Rock Island; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reddick and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Main of Iowa City; Mrs. Eliner Lenz of West Liberty, and others from Wapello and surrounding community.

      Mrs. Metts was born in Louisa county, June 15, 1855. She was married to Richard Metts December 21, 1871. To them were born one son and six daughters, the husband and two daughters, Ada and Martha, preceding her in death.

      The children living are Edmund M. Metts of Pomona, California, Mrs. M. B. Jamison of Amarillo, Texas, Mrs. A. C. Bowhay of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Frank Jamison of Columbus Junction, Iowa, and Mrs. Walter Bice of Lockridge, Iowa. She also leaves grandchildren, Mrs. Gladys Leeds of Rock Island, Mrs. Eloise Metts of Los Angeles, California, Dorothy and Richard Bice of Lockridge, Lucille and Lawrence Jamison of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Harriet Smith of Morning Sun, Mrs. Evelyn Smith and Richard Bowhay of El Paso, Texas, Wm. Bowhay, Seattle, Washington; great-grandchildren as follows: Mrs. Louise McSparin, Cecil Leeds, Jr., Evelyn Smith, Frank Jamison, Judy Jamison, Joey Smith, Wm. Bowhay Jr., Dickie Bowhay; great-great-grandchildren, Phylis, Carolyn, Charlotte and Carl, Jr. McSparin, Celilia and Diana Leeds.
