Wapello (IA) -- Miss Betty Marie Bretz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Russell Bretz, became the bride of Floyd G. Dotson, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Dotson, at a double ring ceremony performed at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the First Methodist church at Wapello. Dr. B. Clifton Keagy officiated. Palms and ferns, lighted candles in candelabra and pastel gladioli formed a pretty setting for the ceremony.

Mrs. B. L. Christie, organist, played nuptial music and accompanied Mrs. Janice Brown who sang "Because" and "The Lord's Prayer." Lohengrin's "Bridal Chorus" was used as the processional and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" as the recessional.

      In Bridal Party

Attending the bride were her sister, Miss Jean Bretz, as maid of honor, and Miss Helen Wiederrecht, bridesmaid. Little Elaine Wilson and her brother, Eugene Wilson, cousins of the bridegroom, were flower girl and ring bearer. Richard Peavey of Burlington, who served in the army with the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Lloyd Dotson, twin brother of the bridegroom, Robert and Edgar Bretz, brothers of the bride, and Vernon Maxson.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a white crepe gown fashioned with a fitted bodice, lace yoke and long sleeves. The full skirt extended into a long train. Her fingertip veil of white net edge with lace was held by a tiara of white rosebuds. She carried a bouquet of white roses.

The maid of honor wore an aqua crepe gown with a matching veil which fell from a tiara of pink and white roses. The bridesmaid was in a pink gown which was styled identical to the gown of the maid of honor. The flower girl wore a long pastel blue dress with a blue veil held by a tiara of pink and white rosebuds. She wore wristlength gloves and carried a basket of rose petals. A white suit was worn by the ring bearer and he carried the rings on a pillow covered with white parachute silk.

      150 Entertained

Following the ceremony a reception was held for 150 guests. The serving table was centered with a three tier wedding cake decorated with the bride's chosen colors of green and white, and topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Eugene Small, Mrs. Billy Otto and Claire Adele Weber. Alice Bretz was in charge of the guest book Later the couple left on a wedding trip and for traveling the bride wore a grey suit with brown accessories.

Mrs. Dotson graduated from Wapello high school with the class of 1946, and was employed as bookkeeper at Maxwell & Hillyard at Winfield, but is now with the Mosena electric shop at Burlington. Mr. Dotson graduated from Wapello high school in 1943 and served three years with the armed forces, spending 21 months at Guadalcanal. He is now employed with the Bell Telephone company out of Burlington. Mr. and Mrs. Dotson will reside in their new trailer home at Burlington.
