    • Martha Louese Gadbaw, age 86, of 1620 Smith Street, Burlington, Iowa, and formerly of Wapello, died Friday afternoon, March 10, 2000, at the Burlington Medical Center. The daughter of John Elmer and Martha Seitz Wilson, she was born April 26, 1913, in Louisa County, Iowa. She married James Elmer Gadbaw on June 12, 1937, at Kahoka, Missouri. He died October 8, 1966.

      Louese was a homemaker and had also worked many years at both the Poage Nursing Home and the Wapello Nursing Home at Wapello. She was a member of the West Hill United Methodist Church at Burlington. She had devoted her life toward caring for the elderly and spending quality time with her family and their activities. She was well known for her cooking, especially apple pies. She was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan.

      Survivors include two daughter, Betty Tipps Williams of West Burlington and Bonnie Kimble of Morning Sun; two sons, Robert Gadbaw of West Burlington and Ronnie Gadbaw of Burlington; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Vern Wilson of Wapello.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three daughters, a granddaughter, a great-grandson, two sisters, and two brothers.

      The funeral ceremony for Louese Gadbaw was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2000, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello with the Reverend David Mixon officiating. Bev Parsons provided the organ music. Selected vocal music included 'In The Garden' and 'Amazing Grace'. Burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery. The casket bearers included Forrest Clayton, Bill Johansmeier, Larry Walker, Lester Samuels, Jim Brown, and John Wilson. The honorary bearers were Ronnie Gadbaw, Kris Gadbaw, Bill Gadbaw, Matt Gadbaw, Rob Gadbaw, Jim Tipps and Jeff Tipps. Open visitation was Sunday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.

      A Memorial Fund has been established to assist the family at this time.
