    The Hawk Eye 
    • Ruth Redfern Ogg, 94, of New London, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at New London Nursing and Rehab.

      Born January 8, 1907, in New London, she was the daughter of Charles and Carra Gittings Redfern.

      Mrs. Ogg was a 1923 graduate of New London High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. She worked for Henry County and the state of Iowa for 30 years, as deputy auditor of Henry County from 1946 to 1965, and as county auditor from 1965 to December 1976.

      She was an avid reader, a meticulous bookkeeper and was very proud of her heritage. She grew up on and owned the family farm north of New London. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

      Survivors include three grandchildren, John Lange of Kirksville, Missouri, Andy Lange of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Megan Schonecker of Erlanger, Kentucky; four great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Linda McNeil of Ainsworth and Dianne Barber of Laura, Illinois.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and one brother.

      Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Elliott Chapel in New London. There will be no family visitation.

      The graveside service for Mrs. Ogg will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Ferrel Cemetery, New London, with the Reverend Jim Edwards officiating.

      Memorials have been established for New London Nursing and Rehab Center, H. J. Nugen Library and the Dover Historical Society, both of New London.

    Ruth was attending White Cloud School, a "one-room" country schoolhouse, when this photograh was taken in 1915. Ruth lived from 1907 till 2001. She married, and later divorced, Armond Ogg.

    Ruth R. Redfern
    Ruth Redfern (1907-2001) was a 1923 graduate of New London (Iowa) High School. She was the daughter of Charles S. and Carrie (Gittings) Redfern. She married Armond Ogg, the son of Frank and Fannie Ogg, between 1926/27. Their daughter was Thalen Lange (1928-1995). Ruth worked for Henry County and the state of Iowa for 30 years, as deputy auditor of Henry County from 1946 to 1965, and as county auditor from 1965 to December 1976.
