    Early settlers to Henry County, Iowa, Jacob and Rachel Burge, married in 1824 in Perry County, Ohio, immigrated first to Sangamon County, Illinois, in 1833, and in 1835 moved west into Michigan Territory, settling near what would soon thereafter become the town of New London in Henry County, Iowa. They donated land for the largest cemetery near the town, known as Burge Cemetery.
