    • William Levi Hamilton, 83, a life resident of Wapello, died at 12:20 p.m. Saturday (August 17, 1968) at the Wapello nursing home.

      He was born July 7, 1885, at Toolesboro, the son of Arnold and Mary (Odell) Hamilton.

      He married Lydia Wilson October 13, 1908, in Oakville. She died April 17, 1954.

      Surviving: two daughters, Alberta Bennett, the state of Washington, and Mary Copas, Warrensburg, Missouri; four sons, Robert of Burt, Iowa; William of Wapello; Donald of Wapello and Richard of Warrensburg, Missouri; 28 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Storm, Sandimas, California. A son and daughter preceded him in death.

      Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Dudgeon-McCulley funeral home, Wapello, Reverend George Snyder; Wapello cemetery.

    The Obituary of William (Levi) Hamilton
    William Levi Hamilton, a member of a large Hamilton family that resided near and in Morning Sun, Iowa, from the 19th century onward, was born in Toolesboro July 7, 1886, and died August 17, 1968, at the Wapello Nursing Home in Wapello, Iowa. His great grandparents were Alexander Hamilton (1781-1823) of Northern Ireland and Mary Wolf of (West) Virginia. William was the father of eight children; his wife was the former Lydia Wilson (1890-1955), whom he married November 9, 1910, in Louisa County, Iowa.
